HUM 5238 Fabric of Life: Textiles in History

The textile/fabric arts have clothed, sheltered, and served as visual symbols of diverse cultures for millennia. From bark cloth to batik to Aloha shirts, this course offers an engaging overview of textiles and their uses by indigenous global cultures to their re-uses/appropriation in contemporary high fashion, focusing on techniques, styles, motifs, and meanings.
