HUM 5229 Ecocriticism and the Environmental Imperative

Ecocritical theory provides a powerful tool for examining texts (literature, art, film, etc.) to reveal their implicit attitudes, ideas, and values concerning the environment, as well as for investigating the ways texts in turn shape local and global ecologies and land-use policies. Students will apply several key theories to a broad range of texts.
