POL 3308 Presidency & Congress: Struggle for Power

This course examines the institutions of the American Presidency and Congress and considers the role of each branch in the political system with a focus on the political process, behavior of individual actors, and their relationship to each other. An examination of the nature of representation and an historical look into how each branch has evolved is included to gain a better understanding of the contemporary relationship between the presidency and Congress and their "struggle for power." Special attention is given to constitutional foundations, elections, relations with the press, the public, and other branches of government. (American Politics and Society Designated)
