HIST 3724 Slavery, Civil War and Reconstruction

This course covers the early 19th century through the end of Reconstruction. This includes analysis of various political "compromises" and various views on the "peculiar institution" of slavery. The course also covers the causes, military actions, and consequences of the American Civil War and the unprecedented changes unleashed by the war’s end.
