CMS 3612 Intercultural Communication

This course explores the historical and political conditions that make intercultural communication possible, the barriers that exist to effective intercultural communication, and possible solutions to the problem of intercultural misunderstanding. We examine examples of differences in communication styles between and within cultures, with particular attention to the interactions of values, traditions and identities within specific cultures. Issues of race, nation, class, gender, religion, immigration, and sexual orientation will be of significant concern.
