Integrative Coaching and Academic Advising
Dominican students are individually supported as they strive to identify and achieve their educational, personal and career goals through consistent, meaningful, and diverse guidance, mentorship, and interaction throughout their college experience. With the help of academic advisors and integrative coaches, students strive to clarify and meet such goals. It is the student’s responsibility to be familiar with all University policies and requirements, and to monitor their progress to the degree via the online Academic Plan provided to all students and advisors on the Dominican Self-Service website. Students are required to meet with their academic advisor prior to registering for courses every semester.
Depending on each students' unique academic path, their academic advisor may be a professional or faculty advisor in their program or they work with a staff advisor in the Student Success Center.
Staff advisors provide academic advisement to some students in their first year, to students who have not chosen a major, and to incoming Adult Degree Completion students. When a student chooses a major, the Chair of the student's major program or another faculty or staff member in the program becomes their advisor.
Integrative coaches mentor students in how to achieve their goals, help them navigate University systems, teach courses in the Integrative Coaching curriculum, assist with Digital Portfolio development, and connect students with their constellation of support, including peer and career mentors.
