ASPP 5311 Performance Psychology in First Responder Settings
This course prepares first responders and performance psychology students to support optimal functioning among first responders, including fire service, emergency medical services, law enforcement, and 911 dispatchers. Students examine performance under pressure, stress exposure, decision-making, leadership, group dynamics, communication, and resilience in high-risk operational environments. Emphasis is placed on psychological factors influencing readiness, adaptability, professional identity, and ethical practice, with attention to cultural and organizational contexts relevant to applied work with and as first responder populations.
