EDU 5393 Supervised Fieldwork in Early Childhood Special Education

This course is designed to provide practical teaching experience to students eligible for special education in public and private school (preschool) settings. Candidates learn about the special education process including IEP, BIP development, assessment, instructional planning, and Universal precautions to support preschool aged students.. Each candidate is required to participate in and reflect on a variety of activities representing different roles of special educators including interactions with parents, case management responsibilities of an early childhood education preschool special education teacher. Credential candidates work in inclusion models, self-contained, and special day classrooms during regular school sessions daily. Students begin to plan for their second level or professional clear credential. Concurrently, candidates participate in fieldwork experiences to apply their developing knowledge of and skills with teaching and learning.
