EDU 5020 Differentiating Instruction for Inclusive Classrooms

The purpose of this course is to develop skills and competencies in addressing the needs of diverse learners within K-12 classrooms, specifically English Language Learners and students with disabilities. Candidates will learn how to assess students and implement effective instructional strategies to provide inclusive, collaborative educational experiences to all students. Additional topics include language and literacy development, federal and state mandates for serving diverse students, and the psychological, social, political and cultural factors affecting learning. Candidates will participate in focused fieldwork in general and special education classrooms and during Designated English Language Development classes.
