POL 3600 Comparative Politics
This course is in the theories and concepts of comparative politics as well as the methodologies applied to understand social science phenomena in different regions of the world. Students learn about the political and economic systems, institutions, structures of government, as well as group and human behavior in specific countries through a process of comparison. The course covers theories of democracy, fascism, capitalism, and communism. Students will study five different countries according to regime types, including advanced industrialized democracies, authoritarian communist and post-communist states. The course culminates with a research project to be presented at an undergraduate academic conference. (International Politics and Policy Designated, Research Designated)
