POL 3206 Philosophy and Science of Being Human
A philosophical and scientific inquiry into the nature of human being. The concept of the soul provides a thematic thread that links our selection of readings. For many, the soul is the essential locus of human existence and the most important facet of our being, yet it also has proven to be the least explicable. Our challenge in this course is to consider a range of inquiries into the nature of human being by philosophers and scientists and consider what they can tell us about the human capacity for consciousness, discovery, and expression.
