GPH 4150 Global Health Issues in Violence and Social Justice
There has been an explosion of academic, policy, and media interest in international issues of violence and social justice. Applying a public health approach to exploring the effects of violence on the health and well-being of individuals and populations globally, this course will also emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of violence prevention. Topics reviewed may include war and other political violence; interpersonal violence such as gang violence, intimate partner violence, gender-based violence and child abuse and neglect; indigenous peoples’ and civil rights - 4 lecture hours. Prerequisites:
GPH 1000/GPH 3000 and
GPH 2300.
