CP 5224 Psychopharmacology

This course is intended to provide students with an understanding of the foundational knowledge of psychopharmacology, including the basics of neurobiology and how psychotropic medications work, the various classes of psychotropic drugs and their application among symptom patterns, how to talk to clients about medications, and the role of the clinician in building a collaborative team including the client and prescribing professionals. The course also focuses on social and cultural factors that impact the experience of psychotropic medication. This course is restricted to students in the Counseling Psychology Graduate Program.
