POL 3571 Ethnicity, Nationalism & Conflict

This course introduces the relevant theories, approaches, and methodologies for the study of ethnicity, nation, nationhood and nationalism, including primordialism, instrumentalism, and constructivism. Students also learn about the various factors that contribute ethno-religious conflicts to understand why some groups around the world fight each other while others coexist in peace. The course culminates with a research project to be presented at an undergraduate academic conference. (International Politics and Policy Designated, Research Designated)
