Barowsky School of Business
Vision
The Barowsky School of Business aspires to be the business school of choice in the North Bay. Our aim is to cultivate business leaders with a global perspective, an entrepreneurial attitude, a commitment to sustainability, and a strong sense of ethics and social responsibility. We strive to deliver high-quality teaching and research, advance our centers of leadership and innovation, and be the most diverse and inclusive higher educational institution with deep business connections.
Mission
The mission of the Barowsky School of Business is to educate students to emerge as innovative business leaders in the North Bay and beyond. We do so by setting the highest academic standards, empowering students to solve local and global issues sustainably, providing professional development through community engagement, and conducting pedagogical and discipline-based research. This is evidenced by our recent accreditation by AACSB International, which puts us in the top 5% of all business schools worldwide.
The School fulfills its mission by:
- Delivering a high-quality business curriculum that incorporates liberal arts and professional knowledge and skills while promoting the Dominican ideals of study, reflection, community, and service.
- Offering students opportunities for collaborative and experiential learning through high-impact engagements.
- Supporting the faculty’s commitment to impactful research, pedagogical innovation, and teaching excellence.
- Providing internship and lifelong career services for students and alumni through professional development opportunities.
- Transforming leaders and businesses through our centers of excellence such as the Institute for Leadership Studies and the Francoise O. Lepage Center for Global Innovation, and strategic partnerships with the U.S. Commercial Service and Marin Small Business Development Center.
At the undergraduate level, our Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BA) degree program underscores this commitment to building sustainable organizations by infusing ethical leadership, sustainability, and globalization throughout our curriculum. Our concentrations allow our students to pursue a degree of specialization that is consistent with their career interests. At the graduate level, the Barowsky School of Business offers a general Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) degree program and a Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) with an emphasis on data analytics
Small class size allows students to closely interact with their peers and faculty. Faculty emphasize academic rigor with real world relevance, placing a priority on strong teaching and providing opportunities for students to discuss their assignments and research.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to engage in conversation with their professors, guest speakers, and other members of the faculty. Students learn to think independently, work collaboratively, and develop leadership and citizenship skills that are grounded on an understanding and acceptance of the diverse world in which they live and work.
Graduates have excellent opportunities for pursuing careers or going to graduate school. Nearly all of the School's recent seniors seeking placement after graduation either secured full-time jobs with a significant starting salary or enrolled in graduate school.
