RLGN 3012 Religious Nationalism

Healthy patriotism and sincere faith can transform into violent racial-ethnic supremacy. Why? This course explores a range of possibilities at the intersection of the religious and the political. Through social scientific analysis of religions, including civil religion, and a historical analysis of religious nationalism globally, the course will trace the roots and development of white Christian nationalism in the U.S. before considering potential effective responses.
