POL 1100 American Politics, Policy & Society
This course analyzes American political thought, governing institutions, the political process, and political culture, from the founding of the Constitution to the present. Political participation, the concepts and theories associated with the foundations of American Government and democracy, issues and problems affecting contemporary society and the policy making process is explored. Social science methodology, specifically the methodology used by political scientists will be utilized throughout the course to study changes that have occurred throughout the development of American politics. Students participate in a "town hall" style forum to explore selected policy issues, propose solutions, and debate concerns and questions about the future of American politics.
