DANC 3502 Dance History II
This two-part historical survey course traces the theory and development of dance from its anthropological origins to the contemporary performance practices of the 21st century. Dance History II covers a detailed chronology of ballet and modern dance in the United States, beginning in the late 19th century. Major socio-political shifts are contextualized in analysis that centralizes the power of the dancing body to challenge, negotiate, and/or affirm dominant cultural values.
