BIO 3300 Health and Wellness for Schools
This course explores the various dimensions of health, health education and health promotion for schools. Priority school health issues identified by the Centers for Disease Control will be addressed including: nutrition and physical activity; growth, development and sexual health; safety and violence and injury prevention; alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; mental, emotional and social health; and personal and community health. This course introduces students to skills-based health education and provides a foundation for planning and implementing effective health education and promotion programs - 3 lecture hours. Prerequisites:
BIO 1000/
BIO 1005 or higher, or consent of the instructor. Concurrent enrollment with
BIO 3320 required, or taken separately with Instructor approval. Does not count towards Biological Sciences major. Required for Education Studies majors, non-majors require instructor approval.
