Sustainability Studies (Minor)

Dominican’s Sustainability Studies minor is a stand-alone, interdisciplinary minor that equips students with knowledge and skills to better understand and address global sustainability challenges. The minor is grounded in the three pillars of sustainability: environment, social, and economic perspectives with the goal of protecting the environment, supporting communities, and enhancing prosperity. The interdisciplinary nature of this minor also allows students to pursue studies that complement any major or concentration.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students will:

  1. Be able to define sustainability and identify sustainability challenges.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of ecosystem carrying capacity as relates to human needs.
  3. Apply sustainability concepts and frameworks to address sustainability issues in a global context.
  4. Evaluate their personal and professional actions with respect to environmental, social, and economic perspectives.
