EDU 5385 Special Education Supervised Teaching Seminar

This course is designed to provide practical experience teaching students with mild/moderate disabilities in public and private school (K-12) settings. Candidates learn about the special education process including IEP and BIP development, assessment, instructional planning, and Universal precautions. Each candidate is required to participate in and reflect on a variety of activities representing different roles of special educators including interactions with parents, and to assume other responsibilities of full-time teachers and service providers for up to one semester. Credential candidates work in general and special education classrooms during regular school sessions daily. Students begin to plan for their second level or professional clear credential. Concurrently, candidates participate in fieldwork experiences to apply their developing knowledge of and skills with teaching and learning.
