PHIL 3201 Modern and Contemporary Political Philosophy
(Cross-listed as
POL 3201) Survey course focusing on the key writings of several important thinkers of Modern and Contemporary Western civilization. Emphasis in the course is on the development of key values and concepts that have shaped our modern world (e.g. power, realpolitik, legitimacy of political rule, freedom, citizenship). Various thinkers of the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries will be considered.
