PHIL 2105 Ethics of Housing and Homelessness
Why does homelessness exist? Is housing a right? Who should be responsible for addressing it? This course will seek answers to these questions in light of socio-economic realities, such as predatory lending and other contributors to the cycle of poverty; intersecting factors, such as race, gender, sexuality, veterans status, and mental health; and divergent philosophical approaches to human rights, human nature, and ethics in general. Community engagement will provide lived context for student learning. This course only satisfies the CORE requirement when offered as a service learning course.
