GPH 4450 International Health Research, Merida, Mexico
This course provides an opportunity for students to apply public health principles and develop research skills in an international setting. The course includes a four week summer immersion experience on the Yucat�n peninsula in Mexico during which students will engage in primary data collection in a semirural community, analyze data, and report findings in a final group paper. Students will receive additional academic credit for a medical Spanish class offered by the partner university and will attend other medical lectures on the university�s campus. Spanish language learning and application will be highlighted. This course is open to students from other disciplines who are interested in community health. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.
