GPH 2300 Determinants of Health

This course covers the basic underlying biological processes of infectious and chronic diseases; individual risk and susceptibility to disease; the social, behavioral, and environmental aspects of diseases, and the changing patterns of human diseases globally. An overarching theme of the course will be how social factors that adversely affect health are equitably distributed, contributing to marked health disparities. Mixed teaching methods will be used, such as small and large group discussions, student presentations, and lectures - 4 lecture hours. Prerequisite: GPH 1000/GPH 3000, or instructor consent.
