ENSC 2100 Birds & the Environment

This course is an introduction to the study of birds, emphasizing the roles birds play in ecosystems and how we have come to understand these roles. Birds as early warning indicators of ecological disasters such as climate change will be stressed in the course. Weekly field trips to nearby locations will help students recognize and identify local bird species. Students will also conduct field observations on these field trips to help them appreciate the collection and analysis of field data and how these data can be used to appreciate the dynamics of bird populations - 3 lecture hours. ENSC 4100 is available for upper division credit with approval by program chair. Recommended for non-Biological Sciences or non-Chemistry majors. ENSC 2100/ENSC 2105 meet the Science for Global Citizens CORE requirements.
