ENGL 3089 The Bard's Beasts

A study of animals in Shakespeare's plays to explore human-nonhuman relationships and the ways in which they entangle issues of race, religion, geography, gender and sexuality in the English Renaissance. Students will adopt a variety of interdisciplinary approaches from science, eco-centrism, postcolonial and critical race studies.
