OT 4015 Psychosocial Foundations of Occupational Therapy
First in a two-semester series focusing on the study of psychosocial aspects of human occupation. Focus on services provided to all individuals to enhance mental health promotion and prevention for all in a variety of contexts. Includes review of key theoretical perspectives, orientation to psychosocial frames of reference, and an introduction to creating a therapeutic relationship through active listening, motivational interviewing, and occupation centered practice. Development and application of interview, assessment, evaluation group facilitation, and goal setting within mental health promotion and prevention - 2 lecture hours. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the accelerated OTD program.
