Business Administration (MBA)

The Dominican Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree offered by the Barowsky School of Business (BSB) provides students with the skills and knowledge that today’s businesses, nonprofits and government agencies seek in their employees: The ability to work in diverse teams to make complex leadership and managerial decisions, both domestically and globally.

BSB’s MBA program adheres to the highest standards for business education as evidenced by the School’s accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), the organization that accredits the best business schools in the world. Dominican’s classroom experience allows students to interact with their peers and faculty in a professional business manner, mimicking the needs of the current workplace environments. Faculty emphasize academic rigor with real world relevance, placing a priority on strong teaching and interactions thus providing opportunities for students to discuss their ideas and work in a way that allows them to be ready for the market place day one.

A Comprehensive Curriculum

The MBA’s comprehensive curriculum combines an interdisciplinary set of core business courses with optional concentrations in business analytics, global business, marketing, or finance. The program also emphasizes communication skills and resume-building experiential learning opportunities, and is highlighted by the opportunity for a global experience.

Degree candidates must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 ('B') or higher in the program in order to graduate.

The program includes:

  • A 30-unit common core that gives student a thorough grounding in accounting, finance, marketing, operations, global business and other business disciplines.
  • A 3-unit Capstone course, as a part their common core, that integrates previous coursework combined with a major consulting project.
  • An optional 3-unit global immersion trip elective course consisting of a 10-day international trip during which students travel to a destination country to learn about international business environments. In this experiential learning course, students strengthen their knowledge related to doing business in global markets by visiting host country organizations and immersing themselves in foreign cultures.
  • Specialty coursework in electives that allow students to tailor their program to suit their individual needs or complete concentrations in business analytics, global business, finance, or marketing.
*Concentrations require additional coursework and may extend the length of study. Not all concentrations are available for students beginning in spring semester. Students should consult with the program director for more information on the timeline to complete a specific concentration.
