MUS 1010 Music Technology and Digital Composition

Study of music composition using music technology and software, including editing, arranging, and performance. Student will learn the skills for creating music with software such as GarageBand, Audacity, Adobe Audition and Sibelius. The curriculum will also include studies in MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) for audio and sequencing technology for composition. Students will also explore and compose in different genres such as Pop, Rock, Jazz and Classical as well as different musical forms and instrumentation. The curriculum is designed to provide a hands-on experience in music technology and music composition, as both a creative musical practice and technical pursuit, and to develop the essential skills to utilize digital tools for artistic and creative development and expression. No prerequisites required and open to all students.
