CHEM 1100 Conceptual Chemistry
This course enables students to understand and appreciate chemistry in the context of their own lives and that of the significant issues faced by science and the world today: global warming, efficacy of alternative fuels, nutrition, and genetic engineering, among others. Students will examine the fundamentals of chemistry, such as thermodynamics, atomic and molecular structure, kinetics, and equilibrium. The fundamentals will be illustrated using applications in the physical world, which will provide students with the knowledge and vocabulary to make informed decisions in the future - 3 lecture hours.
