PSY 3073 Psychological Meaning of Everyday Objects
This course will look at the many material objects with which we are surrounded in our daily life and these objects influence our sense of self, our gender identity and our place in the world. We will learn to 'read' the meaning of items such as clothing, toys, household contents, technological devices, decorative arts, automobiles and many others. How are these objects reflective of human needs and aspirations? What aspects of our personality and our culture cause us to choose and/or create particular items? This will be and interesting and active class.
