ARBC 1200 Beginning Arabic II

This is the second level language course in Modern Standard Arabic. This course is designed to build upon skills in reading and writing developed in Arabic 1100. Students will gain increased vocabulary and a greater understanding of more complex grammatical structures. They will be able to approach prose, fiction, and non-fiction written in the language. Students will also increase their proficiency in Arabic script and sound system, widen their working vocabulary, learn key grammatical points, and practice conversation and dictation. Students deliver oral presentations and write academic papers in Arabic. A variety of Arabic texts covering many subjects of interest such as, literature, classical writing, poetry, media reports, and news will be introduced. Pre-requisite: ARBC 1100 or equivalent.
