Before the invention of the printing press in the 15th century, hand-written and hand-painted manuscripts represent one of the most glorious art forms of the medieval period. This course covers the history of illustrated manuscripts from their origin in antiquity through the late medieval period, as well as the continued popularity and revival of this art form today.
